Gym Manager

Manager and Coach Phillip Barry says he’s a tool … to be utilized in helping members achieve their goals.

His favorite part of coaching is “That moment when an athlete is having trouble with a movement, you give them a cue, and it corrects the movement – like the piece that fits in the puzzle,” he says.

The thing that really grabbed him about the gym was the people. “I started here and couldn’t believe how great the community was,” he says. “I wanted to invest my time surrounded by the people and even give back to it.”

Ian Sprehn

Coach

Ian Sprehn

Coach

Coach Ian Sprehn has been doing CrossFit for 6 years, and has over 3000 hours personal training experience, training clients ranging from 14 to 84 years old. He specializes in strength training, post-injury rehabilitation and corrective exercise. He says, “Beyond helping and leading individuals to weight loss or strength gains, I am passionate about making people’s experience in the gym a positive one and educating the benefits of fitness.”

Ian says he started out his athletic journey with high school sports, such as varsity basketball and some football, but notes that he was not very good at the latter. With his background evolving, and having become “a regular gym rat,” Ian thought he was in good shape. However, once he tried CrossFit, he found himself “humbled fast!” He says, “I was hooked. A few years later I got my CFL-1, and when I came to CF7C I loved the gym vibe and wanted to be a part of the coaching culture here.”

He wants people to know, “I all around LOVE LOVE fitness. There isn’t one modality of fitness I devalue, except the shake weight. I will literally take the time to help anyone out to help increase their fitness, especially those that are motivated to change!”

David has a passion for lifting heavy objects, listening to good music, and eating donuts! “CrossFit allows me to do all three while being fit enough to do things I’m passionate about outside of the gym.” he says.  “Ultimately I want to bring a smile to everyone’s face.  When it comes to CrossFit I’d consider us all ‘Swolemates’ that are part of a tight knit community.  That’s what keeps me coming back!”

Coach Amy's Headshot

Amy Holt

Coach

Amy Holt

Coach

I started CF after graduating college and moving to WA in 2012. It was the only thing I have come upon that filled that hole left from a lifetime playing competitive sports. The intensity of CF was the closest I’ve come to the work is put in as a D1 softball player. The longer I’ve been a part of CF at the various gyms I’ve been to, I’ve come to see the real power of CF is actually the impact it can have on any individual wishing to live a healthy life. The sport of CF is also a good outlet for my competitive tendencies, but that is only a small part.

As for coaching I started in 2013 and continued for about two years before setting it aside to focus on different goals. I always knew I’d come back because one of the best things I have ever done is to share the knowledge and experience I’ve gathered over the years with individuals. In the summer of 2018, here at CF7C it finally happened. While the group classes are amazing, my favorite is working with people 1-on-1, I love to learn what people’s goals are and watch them achieve and then surpass them!!! If I can help or be a part of it in any way, then I count myself lucky!!

Coach / Front Desk

Tanya Werner

Coach / Front Desk

Tanya is a self proclaimed nerd, a voracious reader with a thirst for knowledge and personal growth. She was drawn to coaching after being a member for many years and seeing the personal connection a coach could have. When a member is struggling with a movement or through a workout and the coach can say that one thing that will help them through it, that’s gold.

Tanya started her Crossfit journey in 2016 with encouragement from a friend. She was instantly hooked by the variation in exercises and the community aspect she hadn’t found elsewhere. Her favorite quote happens to coincide with the Crossfit mentality of growth, “It never gets easier, you just get better.”

Like many people, it took a long time for Becky to get up the courage to try CrossFit because she thought it looked “too intimidating.” Luckily, the coaches saw something special in her and helped her find her inner and outer strength. “After a few years, I decided it was time to help other people find their strength,” she says. “I chose CF7C because of Cody Smith and the environment he’s created here – we’re all a family and help each other be the best we can be.”
